About Forest Research Institute
The Forest Research Institute (FRI), located in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, is one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions in the field of forestry research and education in India. Established in 1906, it functions under the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE), an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India. FRI is renowned for its majestic colonial-era architecture and vast campus, which spans over 450 hectares and includes a botanical garden, museums, and extensive research laboratories. The institute offers postgraduate courses and conducts advanced research in various disciplines such as forest ecology, forest genetics, silviculture, and forest products.
