Scholarship Exam Details

The ONGC Foundation Scholarship for Meritorious SC/ST Students is a programme to support economically disadvantaged but academically talented students from the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories in India. The scholarship covers full-time regular professional courses such as Engineering (4-year), MBBS (4-year), MBA (2-year), and Masters in Geology/Geophysics (2-year). The award amount is ₹48,000 per annum per student, disbursed for the duration of the course subject to good academic performance and other conditions. Roughly 1,000 scholarships are earmarked for the SC/ST category each year, with 50 % of those reserved for female candidates. Applicants’ family annual income must not exceed a set threshold (₹4.5 lakhs for SC/ST applicants in recent years). Applicants must have secured minimum required marks (typically 60 %) in their qualifying examination (class 12 for Engineering/MBBS; graduation for PG programmes). They must also maintain a minimum performance in each subsequent year (for example 60% or a CGPA of 6.0/10) to continue receiving the scholarship. The scheme is zonally distributed across North, West, North-East, East and South zones of India to ensure wider coverage.
