NSP Scholarship (National Scholarship Portal) – 2025

Overview

The National Scholarship Portal (NSP) is an initiative by the Government of India, under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), to provide a single digital platform for all Central, State, and UGC/AICTE scholarships.

Through NSP, students from school to postgraduate and research levels can apply, track, and receive scholarship funds directly in their bank account via DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer).

Main Objective

To ensure transparency, efficiency, and equal access to scholarships for deserving students — especially those from economically weaker and minority backgrounds.

Important Dates

Opening Date: 16-Oct-2025 09:10 AM

Closing Date: 16-Oct-2025 09:10 AM

Q1: Is NSP only for minority students?
A1: No. NSP covers all categories — General, SC, ST, OBC, Minority, PwD, and economically weaker students.
Q2: Can I apply for more than one scholarship?
A2: You can apply for multiple, but you will receive only one scholarship (whichever is highest in priority).
Q3: Is there an entrance exam for NSP scholarships?
A3: No general exam. Only certain schemes (like NMMS, INSPIRE, PMSS) have separate tests or merit lists.
Q4: What is the income limit for NSP scholarships?
A4: Between ₹1 lakh to ₹8 lakh depending on the category and scheme

Syllabus / Merit Criteria (for Exam-Based Scholarships)

Most NSP scholarships are not exam-based — they are merit-cum-means or income-based.
However, a few specific ones require academic merit or aptitude tests:

Scholarship Basis / Syllabus
Central Sector Scheme (CSSS) Based on Class 12 marks (Top 20 percentile) – No separate syllabus
INSPIRE Scholarship (DST) Based on science performance – Top 1% in Class 12 / JEE / NEET
PMSS (Defence) Merit in professional entrance exams like NEET, JEE, GATE, etc.
AICTE Pragati / Saksham Based on admission in AICTE-approved institutions – No test
Minority Affairs (MOMA) Based on previous year marks (≥50%) and income – No syllabus

So, NSP doesn’t have one common syllabus, but if your chosen scholarship has a merit test, it’s based on:

  • Class 10–12 NCERT syllabus (for pre/post-matric)

  • Or your entrance test syllabus (for higher/professional courses)
