What is UPPSC PCS?

  • UPPSC PCS (also called UPPCS / UPPSC Combined State / Upper Subordinate Services) is a state-level competitive exam in Uttar Pradesh.

  • It recruits for various administrative, police, revenue, etc., posts in the state government (e.g. SDM, BDO, ASP, etc.).

  • Equivalent in many ways to UPSC Civil Services but limited to the state of Uttar Pradesh.

    Educational Qualification Must have a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university. 
    Age Limit Minimum 21 years; maximum 40 years for general category. Relaxations apply for SC/ST/OBC etc.

CSAT / Paper II: Basic reasoning, comprehension, numerical ability, decision making, etc. Qualifying only.

Mains Syllabus

General Hindi: Grammar, comprehension, translation, essay possibly with topics in Hindi. 

Essay: Topic essays (general, state, socio-economic themes etc.)

General Studies Papers I–IV: Broad topics including:

History (India & UP), Culture, Heritage

Geography (Physical / Human / Economic; India & UP)
