The Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP) is a premier Central Armed Police Force tasked with guarding the India–China border and performing high-altitude security duties. Recruitment to Sub-Inspector (SI) and Head Constable (HC) posts (other than General Duty) includes specialized roles such as Telecom, Technical, Translator, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Technical/Trades, and others.

The selection process is multi-stage:

1. Written Examination (CBT) – a computer-based objective test assessing general ability relevant to the post, including reasoning, language, awareness and trade-specific knowledge.

2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Physical Standard Test (PST) – to verify endurance, strength, and body standards appropriate for demanding border duties.

3. Skill/Trade Test, where applicable – for technical posts (e.g., telecom) to test on-the-job skills.

4. Document Verification & Medical Examination – ensuring candidates meet educational, age, and physical criteria.

The written paper pattern generally includes General Intelligence & Reasoning, Numerical Aptitude, General Awareness, and Language (English/Hindi). Technical SI/HC posts may also include subject-specific questions based on diploma or engineering trade. Qualifying PET is mandatory and involves running, long jump, high jump, etc., with specific standard requirements.

Career & Posting: Selected candidates serve at border posts, high-altitude stations, and installation security units. They are involved in surveillance, communications, operations support, and technical duties crucial to ITBP’s border security mandate.
